Licensing in New South Wales
In New South Wales, security licences are issued by the NSW Police Security Licensing and Enforcement Directorate. Security guards you hire through XGuard in Sydney must hold the licence the work requires.
What a professional needs before they can work in New South Wales:
- Be 18 and a fit and proper person with the right to work.
- Hold approved training from a SLED-approved organisation.
- Hold a first aid certificate (HLTAID011 or HLTAID014).
XGuard verifies licences by document review and, where the regulator publishes a lookup, against that lookup. A professional's profile goes live only after their licence is checked.
