Licensing in United Kingdom
In the United Kingdom, security licences are issued by the Security Industry Authority. Event security professionals you hire through XGuard in Leeds must hold the licence the work requires.
What a professional needs before they can work in the United Kingdom:
- Be 18 or over.
- Meet the first aid requirement (Emergency First Aid at Work or equivalent), then complete the licence-linked qualification: Security Guarding is 30 hours over 4 days with self-study or 38 hours over 5 days without; Door Supervision is 44 hours over 6 days or 52 hours over 7 days.
- Show right to work and pass criminal record checks; overseas checks are needed if you lived abroad for 6 months or more in the last 10 years.
XGuard verifies licences by document review and, where the regulator publishes a lookup, against that lookup. A professional's profile goes live only after their licence is checked.
